Release Date: September 16, 2026 | The First Simultaneous Worldwide Pokemon TCG Launch
The Pokemon TCG turns 30 β and the anniversary set is unlike anything The Pokemon Company has released before.
Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration arrives September 16, 2026 as the first expansion in the game's history to have a simultaneous global release in participating markets. Product availability varies by region and product. Read the official announcement.
The set itself is built for collectors: every card is foil (yes, even the Basic Energy), with a guaranteed Pikachu rare in every booster pack drawn from 30 unique illustrations. Layer on classic reprints spanning Base Set to the modern era β including the Base Set Charizard β and the debut of the all-new Futuristic Rare rarity illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, and 30th Celebration is positioned to be the most-opened product of late 2026.
As checked on September 10, 2026, the official English gallery publishes 154 main-set card images. Their printed code is 30C EN and denominator is 128. The gallery reaches number 158, but 143, 151, 152 and 154 are not currently listed, so this is not a complete final checklist. Its 30 Classic Collection images and the separately numbered MEP product promos are distinct from the main-set count.

The Pokemon Company describes 30th Celebration as the first expansion with a simultaneous global release. That shared launch date applies to participating markets; it does not mean every product arrives on the same day.
Collectors can prepare for the September 16 expansion launch while checking each product's regional release window:
The set commemorates 30 years since the TCG debuted in Japan with Base Set in October 1996 β and the card list leans into that history hard.
The signature gimmick of 30th Celebration: every booster pack contains one of 30 unique Pikachu rare cards, each with its own illustration and holofoil pattern, depicting Pikachu across different moments of day and night.
Each pack gives you five foil cards β one of them always a Pikachu rare β plus a foil Basic Energy. That guarantees the set's mascot chase in every single pack, but completing all 30 is still a project: expect specific Pikachu illustrations to develop their own price hierarchy within weeks of launch, the way the Van Gogh Pikachu and Celebrations gold Pikachu did.
A complete 30/30 Pikachu set β especially graded β is the obvious display piece from this expansion. If you're chasing the full run, compare the announced pack-containing products and trade duplicates as you collect. The premium Pikachu illustrations (night scenes and anything with crossover meme appeal) may develop different prices as the market forms.
30th Celebration debuts Futuristic Rare β the first new rarity tier since the Mega Evolution era began. Futuristic Rares feature vibrant, high-concept visuals from renowned Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, whose neon-futurist style is a sharp break from traditional Pokemon card art.
Confirmed Futuristic Rares so far:
First-of-a-rarity cards have a strong track record in the hobby. The first Illustration Rares (Scarlet & Violet base) and the first Special Illustration Rares carry a lasting "first of their kind" premium. If that pattern holds, the YOSHIROTTEN Mewtwo is the single card from this set most likely to be a long-term grail β it combines a new rarity's debut, a top-three most-collected Pokemon, and an anniversary set stamp.
The official gallery now shows all 30 Classic Collection images, spanning Base Set through the modern era, including Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX. These reprints form a separate collection from the 154 currently published main-set cards.
The reprints carry the 30th Celebration stamp while retaining original collector numbers: Charizard is still 4/102, and the two Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND halves are 99/102 and 100/102. The stamp identifies the anniversary printing. That matters for value in both directions:

Beyond the Pikachu run and the Futuristic Rares, the revealed card list already includes several heavy hitters:
New rarity, debut artist, anniversary set, Mewtwo. This is the card the set will be priced around. Until pull rates are known, treat any launch-window price as speculative β but the ingredients here are as strong as modern chase cards get.
Umbreon is the most reliably expensive Eeveelution in every modern set it appears in (the Moonbreon effect is real and durable). An anniversary-set Umbreon ex β alongside Espeon ex and Sylveon ex β gives Eeveelution collectors three targets, with Umbreon almost certainly leading on price. The international release also includes cards from the Espeon & Umbreon Premium Deck Set.
Day/night themed artwork runs through the whole set β Pokemon illustrated across different moments of daytime and nighttime β which gives even the standard foils more display appeal than a typical expansion.

The new rarity debuting in this set, illustrated by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. Mewtwo and Mew are the first confirmed Futuristic Rares.
No. The Classic Collection image shows the 30th Celebration stamp while retaining the original 4/102 collector number. It is a distinct printing from the 1999 original and the 2021 Celebrations reprint.
Yes β it releases within the Mega Evolution era (between Pitch Black and Mega Evolution: Delta Reign) but stands apart as a commemorative set rather than a numbered main expansion.
Our expectation, not a fact: we think launch-window sellouts are likely given anniversary demand and a simultaneous global release. The precedent cuts both ways β The Pokemon Company reprinted and restocked Celebrations (25th) repeatedly, and patience beat paying scalper premiums that time. Nobody knows the print run for 30th Celebration yet, ourselves included.
